Dave Schnase has spent more than 25 years in leadership positions within higher education, primarily as an executive within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the national governing body for intercollegiate athletics. In his various roles Dave has interacted with university presidents, administrators, faculty members, coaches and staff across the country to strengthen relationships, solve problems and improve experiences for the hundreds of thousands of students who participate in college sports.
Dave is a trained mediator and negotiator, a proficient team-builder, a proponent of equity, diversity and inclusion, and an effective manager of positive change. He has overseen a multimillion-dollar budget; hired, supervised and developed a staff ranging between 60-85 members; mentored individuals who are now industry leaders, successful entrepreneurs, educators and private practitioners; and interviewed/sourced hundreds of job candidates.
Dave’s experience has enabled him to effectively identify organizational priorities, strengths and weaknesses of individuals and teams and can lead clients through the decision-making process in meaningful ways. His decades of leading, coaching and mentoring have resulted in a clear passion for helping others achieve their goals.

In Dave’s spare time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends and any activity that keeps him physically active, including a never-ending search for a serviceable golf swing. Dave also enjoys practicing yoga and mindfulness.
Style.
Dave focuses on developing interpersonal skills, strategic thinking, innovation, and creative solutions. He is comfortable with ambiguity and the search for meaning, the use of humor to build trust, and
the ability to partner, to be authentic and direct, and prioritize client development through
humble inquiry. Dave's quest for life-long learning influences his approach and client-relationships.

Education.
Dave's bachelors degree in psychology provides a solid foundation for his leadership style and focus on
positive development. He is deeply interested in human behavior and the infinite circumstances
each of us present. With a masters degree in education, Dave is able develop and implement solutions in
ways that are understandable and practical. His legal education taught him how to quickly analyze a
set of facts and apply various techniques in reaching the best possible outcome. Dave's career has been
enhanced by the verbal and written communications developed in law school and as an attorney.

Training.
Dave has been fortunate to participate in some of the top training and development programs in
the world, including a fellowship with the American Council on Education, a program for Executive
Leadership Development with the Aspen Institute and certification in Executive Coaching and Change
Management from Northwestern University. Dave has experience with numerous development and training tools, including programs from the Center for Creative Leadership, Georgetown University, Gallup, Korn/Ferry and Springboard International. In addition, having worked with some of the top coaches in the world,
Dave understands what it takes to be a good coach and also understands both the challenges and incredible opportunities of being coached.
